Artisan Works Presents Contemporary Victorian Furniture by Paul Hoffman: The wood working artist’s latest body of work, with weekly installations sponsored by Artisan Works, reflects the regality of Victorian era furniture and infuses a contemporary, naturalist organic finish. Hoffman carves his pieces from exotic woods such as Purple Heart, Zircote (native of Belize) and East Indian Rose Wood mimicking the smooth musculature of the great trees from which the stock came. The furniture can be viewed throughout the building. Exhibit is ongoing; new pieces installed frequently starting November 2nd. Artisan Works, 565 Blossom Rd. Artisan Works features the Evolution of Ross Rider’s Wooden Model A Ford: For over a decade, Artisan Works resident woodworker Ross Rider has masterfully engineered and carved sculptures that immortalize everyday objects. Rider’s sculptural tributes compare the intricate architecture of the carved work to the industrially manufactured. His latest project, a Model A Ford, is situated at the “Highway Entrance” of the building, next to the real truck. Viewers can observe Mr. Rider diligently sanding and installing wooden nuts, bolts, and automotive parts during public hours. Exhibit is ongoing; projected completion in 2010.
