FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ARTISANworks seeks community-wide support for their appeal to have the Midtown Clock donated and made accessible to all viewers.
ARTISANworks supports creative minds and educates the community by celebrating the histories and creative processes of artists, craftsmen, and musicians, through a variety of reciprocal programming. We are devoted to honoring those who work and reside in the upstate New York region by providing an all-inclusive environment for exploration, creation, and discovery of art in its many forms.
Creativity should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ethnic or economic background. As the Midtown clock becomes available, we would like to appeal for its donation. It is a beloved piece of regional history and a display of master craftsmanship that everyone from students, seniors, and entrepreneurs should have the equal opportunity to view.
Our 60,000 square-foot gallery space is known as a venue for celebratory gatherings where guests can wander through a maze of historical and artistic tribute rooms. Our self-funded, not-for profit model requires that the funds received from these events be invested almost entirely into programs that make art accessible. We spread awareness and interest in appreciation of the arts through sponsorship and museum memberships. We have most recently provided patients at AIDS Rochester with an ongoing art workshop directed by one of our artists-in-residence. We facilitate educational enrichment workshops and tours for businesses and local school districts. We provide local musicians and performers with free performance space so that they may gain exposure and appreciation during Sunday concerts. We award stipends each month to artists throughout the country as well as to nearly a dozen artists-in-residence who have studios on site. At ARTISANworks, we strive to capture and ignite the spirit of the arts through the voices of many.
Whether it is viewed during a tour for school children, by a curious walk-in visitor during our public hours, or by a generous donor attending a fundraiser for one of our sister non-profits, the Midtown clock would flourish and maintain its symbolic stature here at AW. Each hour represents a vivid and colorful display of individuality, and as a whole, a united community. It is a paradigm of our ongoing mission to honor the arts in our community, and a thank-you to those who make it possible.
If our mission here at ARTISANworks aligns with the vision of the clock’s future, we will fully accept the responsibility of picking it up, installing it in our refurbished Rochester Showroom, and maintaining it. Renowned clock-maker and artist Mike Kuyt would be honored to help us conserve the piece.
We hope you will strongly support and participate in our appeal to honor the monumental Midtown Clock at ARTISANworks. Join us in actively seeking its acquisition, so that all members of our community may enjoy it.
